FORGIVENESS -How To Use This Powerful Tool.


  • Anxiety and depression dramatically affect youth today.

  • Forgiveness is a tool that can assist them to cope with negative incidents.

  • Coping will assist youth to make great strides in their lives.

 


Youth today are facing more anxiety and depression.

Suicide rates have also increased.

Some causes are the 24-hour news cycle, peer pressure, social media, and even cyber-bullying.

Forgiveness can assist to cope with challenges.

Often, without forgiveness, we often will not make great strides in our lives.

THE POWER OF FORGIVENESS:

Forgiveness can:

  • aid letting go of grudges;

  • help overcome depression, anxiety, and rage;

  • change anger and hurt into healing and peace;

  • remove fear and liberate the soul;

  • help cope with personal conflicts;

  • stop hatred from controlling;

  • enable the past to be viewed with compassion;

  • remove negative feelings which help avoid illness;

  • assist mental and emotional well-being;

  • improve relationships;

  • improve self-esteem.

SOME TIPS FOR YOUTH ABOUT FORGIVING:

  • Analyze the negative impact on yourself when holding a grudge and anger.

  • Practice avoiding thinking about being wronged. Analyze why the incident occurred without accepting negative or abusive behaviour.

  • Look at the strengths you have developed as a result of handling the situation.

  • Review the positive outcomes resulting from handling challenging situations.

  • Trust the power of healing the hurt and pain that forgiveness delivers.

  • Analyze how the resulting emotions are affecting you.

  • Review how you can change the situation to result in a more positive life.

  • Remember you cannot control others, but you can control how you react.

  • Put the incident in perspective and realize that often it is not significant in the grand schemes of things.

  • Decide the past is the past and look toward the future.

  • Try an approach of repeating the following phrase throughout the day. ” I forgive you (name(s) of person(s)). I forgive you and I set you free.” 

Encourage everyone to learn to “Forgive, Forget and Get On With Life” and feel the power of forgiveness.

We can encourage and enable the younger generation to learn how forgiveness can help them cope with some of life’s challenges.
