It appears that by 2020 around 50% of the workforce will not be working in jobs as we know them now. It is a workplace revolution.
Change is accelerating, as is opportunity.
The latest technology lets us search for information and use services with ease. We have become accustomed to using services online. More people are working remotely. It is easy to set up our own businesses.
This enables entrepreneurship for all. More than ever before there is autonomy available for all.
Contract employees, freelancing etc. allows you to work for yourself. There is zero barrier for entry and there are endless ways of being a consumer and a supplier.
One such example is EvanTubeHD. This popular YouTube channel features 10 year old Evan reviewing toys, particularly Lego. His father, a self-employed filmmaker has made enough money to cover his children’s education. More people are taking advantage of the versatile technology that is evolving. The scope of what is available is expanding. There is social media, sharing platforms like Uber, Airbnb, and digital storefronts. It is becoming easier to set up your own business.
New technologies are on the horizon. Robotics, 3D printing, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and autonomous vehicles are examples.
The only limitations are those that are in your head. We need to listen to want we want, not what other people say about what we should / could do.
People have fear of failure. They need to learn to take risks.
This is one of the key reasons why we need to coach our youth to gain self-confidence and use their creativity. This fast changing world is what they will face as they enter adulthood.
