Generation Z is the latest generation, generally those born after 1995.
-
Those of that generation have been called the most connected, educated and sophisticated generation in history.
-
It is them who will build a better future and a better planet.
They are the first generation who have known the Internet and social media all their lives.
It is stated that they are smarter, safer and more mature than previous generations.
Also, they want to change the world.
Their role model is Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani education campaigner. She is the world’s youngest Nobel Prize recipient. In 2017, Malala was awarded honorary Canadian citizenship. She is the youngest person to have addressed the House of Commons of Canada.
AN EXAMPLE:
Recently I was asked to act as a reference for a 19 year old Generation Z friend. I first met him when he was 12 or 13 years old.
He has been home schooled. The first time he visited a school was to take his younger brother to use the washroom.
He has taken online college level courses.
He has been working since he was 14 at a high tech company.
He was applying for a position in another high tech company.
He has also been running his own business for the past two years. He imports and sells devices for hobbyists.
He represents many of the characteristics attributed to Generation Z. He is entrepreneurial. He has hacked the education system.
